Church History

Madison St Church of God In Christ was started in the 1930's and there were many great preachers that pastors this church such as Elder P. H. Porter, "Bishop Phillip Porter's Dad, Former chairman of Promise Keeper", Elder Buford, and Elder Jimmie Norwood, Elder Cargo, Elder Willie Walker. Most of the written history have been lost there were many Pastor's but most of them did not stay long. The doors were eventually locks and all of the members moved to other towns. In June 1984 Madison St Church of God In Christ was restarted, down church located at 411 W Madison Crescent Ok. There were weeds growing. up through the floor and one string of lights hanging from the ceiling for light. Wooden benches some sitting on cinder blocks, the sky was visible when you looked up at the roof.

Bishop J.A.Young appointed Elder Edwin L House as Pastor of the Church June 1'984. The only members were Elder House immediate family .. The first 20 members was white but they were accepted by everyone where ever we went. The Church went through many changes but it is still multiracial. We were given a church By the First Baptist Church of Crescent OK and was moved to 400 W Madison Crescent OK with a cost of $42, 000.00 to move and $25,000.00 to remodel and brick it. The name was changed to Light House Inc. C.O.G.l.C. and now we are debt free

 

 

We are a church that is mission orientated. We have a food bank: that anyone in need of food can be helped. We own a thrift shop where anyone in need will be given clothes or if they can afford-to purchase them they can with a small- donation. We are supporting two-Orphanages in- Kenya Africa and several missionaries working in South-America and Africa and the United States of America. We support several programs, Save Africa's Children, "Bishop Blake program", Feed The Children, Gospel For Asia and any-program or person we deem worthy of helping.
